Repowering of Rockefeller Center, MOMA & NY Hospital

Noteworthy projects under E-J’s close management have been the repowering, with high voltage and complete new distribution, of power to all Rockefeller Center Buildings east of the Avenue of the Americas. The electrical reconstruction of the Museum of Modern Art has been completed with 600V services, specialized lighting, card access system, security cameras, motion detectors, and backup power generation. In addition, E-J completed the entire new C.V. Starr Pavilion of New York Hospital, incorporating electrical requirements for latest medical systems.

AT&T Corporate Headquarters & Rhiga Royal Hotel

E-J Electric was selected as the electrical contractor for the optical fiber and copper cable broadband systems for AT&T’s new 37 story World Headquarters in Manhattan, which was designed by architects John Burgee and Philip Johnson. We installed all power, lighting and communication systems. Upon completion, the AT&T Building was one of the most lavish and noteworthy corporate headquarters in the United States. E-J was also contracted to complete another impressive project, Rhiga Royal Hotel, New York City’s tallest hotel. E-J finished the electrical facilities on a fast-track basis.

Lord & Taylor & St. John’s Mausoleum

E-J installed 24/7 emergency power on a turnkey basis for Lord & Taylor’s national computer system, including battery backup, emergency generation, and all electrical and mechanical systems. We also completed all the electrical work for NYC’s largest mausoleum, St. John’s.

Merrill Lynch Data Center

E-J installed the complete Security Systems for Merrill Lynch Data Center and ADT/WFC. Additional systems installed included power, lighting, communications and fire alarm.

John Jay College of Criminal Justice

E-J performed the complete electrical installation for John Jay College of Criminal Justice’s new campus on the West Side of New York City with classrooms, theater, and athletic facilities. E-J also worked for LaGuardia High School, performing the installation of their state-of-the-art auditorium and theatre as the final step in completing the country’s leading Performing Arts High School. E-J installed a 200 KW generator to provide power to critical school loads.

Performing Arts - Pier 84

E-J designed and constructed the entire electrical system at the Pier 84 Performing Arts Center. In the Radio City Music Hall Theater and dressing rooms, we installed new service and distribution equipment, lighting, stage power and distribution, and variable frequency drives for new motors as well as providing the power and distribution for concessions. Radio City continued to use E-J for their major upgrades.

Con Edison

E-J also performed work at many Con Edison generating plants including Waterside, Ravenswood, and Astoria.

Tony Mann, Third Generation in E-J

Of the many noteworthy jobs completed by E-J and its affiliates, a number have been directed and coordinated by Tony Mann, a third-generation family member who continues the tradition of hands-on leadership at E-J Electric.
Tony Mann joined E-J in 1986 after receiving an Electrical Engineering degree from Tufts University and an MBA from the Kellogg Business School of Northwestern University. He now serves as President and CEO with extensive experience and professional affiliations which have made him an industry leader. He holds Master Electrician Licenses in New York and Connecticut.

Under his leadership, E-J has completed over $10 Billion in leading electric construction projects. As President and CEO of E-J, he has formed many divisions, including E-J Roadway & Outdoor Specialty, E-J Energy, E-J Energy Construction, E-J Long Island, E-J Hudson Valley E-J Electric LLC (Syracuse), E-J Transit, E-J Power, E-J Transmission & Distribution, Rossi Electric (Rhode Island), and CS Construction (Arizona).

These divisions have led E-J to a large range of projects from stadiums, water treatment, renewable energy, bridges, roadways, office buildings, transit facilities, schools, and theatres. Notable projects under his leadership include: Yankee Stadium, New York Times Headquarters, Bank of America Mission Critical, 11 Times Square, WTC Path Station, Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC), Planetarium at the Museum of Natural History, JFK New Terminal One (NTO) Microgrid, the USTA National Tennis Center and the Champlain Hudson Power Express – Astoria Rainey Cable.

Design-Build

Our Design Build expertise have included Rockefeller Center chiller upgrades, several major United Nations programs and Columbia University generators.

Design-Build/Design-Assist/EPC

E-J has over $1.5B is design-build/design-assist/EPC projects over the last decade. Highlighted projects include JFK New Terminal One (NTO) Microgrid, Jacob Javits Convention Center Expansion, The Vessel at Hudson Yards, Long Island Railroad Third Track Expansion Project, Kosciuszko Bridge, Astoria Energy I & II 500 & 550 MW Power Plants and Columbia University Emergency Power.
